Rearcross U-10's 4 - Nenagh Rovers 5

Rearcross U10's played their first home league game of the season when they hosted Nenagh Rovers on Saturday afternoon. It was certainly a game of two halves with the visiting Nenagh side showing their dominance in the first half. Nenagh were rewarded after 3 minutes when they scored their first goal from close range. The visitors pushed on from their bright start and had added a further 2 goals by the 12 minute. Aaron Lenihan scored a fine goal in the 15th minute for the home side following a great solo run down the left flank giving Rearcross a glimmer of hope however the Nenagh side managed their 4th goal of the day on the stroke of half time. The second half was to see a better performance from the home side but it was Nenagh who were first to be rewarded in the 24th minute with their 5th goal of the day. Rearcross pushed on with a fighting spirit and Nicholas Dawson reduced the deficit from close range in the 28th minute ably assisted by Aaron Lenihan. Nenagh continued to threaten the Rearcross goals but a fine performance from goalkeeper Brian Hammersley continually denied the visitors from extending their lead. Aaron Lenihan was again to the fore in the 34th minute when he scored his second goal. This was soon followed up by another strike from Nicholas Dawson who found the net reducing the deficit to a single goal in the final minutes of the game. Rearcross had pushed hard for an equaliser however the final whistle came too early for them. Despite this defeat Rearcross can be very happy with their performance against a fine Nenagh side.
